Several descriptors come to mind when thinking of the newest Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Benalla, Sally Sykes.

Involved, enthusiastic, organised and always one of the first to put up her hand to help out are the ones that really stand out.

Sally has played an active role in the administration of Benalla Rotary Club.

Her service record is impressive, with her achievements appreciated — although not always obvious.

Sally served as club secretary from 2012-2014.

She was director of club administration from 2014-2016 and has been Benalla Rotary’s Bulletin Editor on many occasions.

Sally has been involved with the club’s fundraising and is the current director of this portfolio.

As well, she has coordinated the catering at the Benalla Racing Club and Winton Raceway.

As a further mark of her commitment to Benalla Rotary, Sally is the club’s current president elect.

Within the international arm of Rotary, Sally has been a member of the Youth Exchange committee serving as secretary for two years and now coordinating general administration.

Sally previously had major involvement with the District 9790 legal team, which established new Rules of Association for the district.

Sally has been an active participant within the local community for many years.

This involvement has included, Relay For Life’s 24-hour walkathon and volunteering with Food Share, and she is a committee member of the Benalla Young Sports Person Trust.

As a dedicated member of the Benalla Golf Club, Sally has been Ladies Champion seven times, secretary 2004-2007, treasurer numerous times and club captain in 2010 and 2011.

In short, Sally is a fine ambassador for the Rotary Club of Benalla and great asset to the local community.
