The Benalla Art Gallery, in conjunction with the Melbourne Recital Centre, is again bringing a fabulous season of fine chamber music to Benalla.
May 21 sees the first of this series of Sunday afternoon concerts.
Discover the world’s of Cuban, Brazilian and Argentinian new-music played with energy and passion by classical guitarists Ziggy and Miles Johnson.
Ziggy and Miles are brothers who share a deep passion for music and their instrument, the classical guitar.
Expect an afternoon filled with energy and expression as you are taken on a journey through the world of Argentinian tangos and Cuban and Brazilian classical music.
Through their guitar playing, the duo will capture the music of Astor Piazzolla, Sergio Assad, Leo Brouwer and Máximo Diego Pujol.
The season will include two traditional chamber concerts in June and October, where such favourites as Mozart, Beethoven Smetana and Schubert will revive your spirits.
The Margaret Brookes Memorial Concert in July will honour her with a performance of music by Australian composers played by Anna Cislowska on the gallery piano.
By popular demand ‘‘Scottish Fiddles’’ leader Catherine Fraser and guitarist will entertain as only they can with an afternoon of Scottish music in August.
The season will end in November with a program that explores the classical romantic repertoires of old and new music played by the pianist Stewart Kelly and Friends.
