The Mitchelton Chocolate Festival will be held at Mitchelton Wines in Nagambie on August 19 and 20.
Promoters say the event will be bigger and better than last year’s and will feature headline chefs Adriano Zumbo and Kirsten Tibbals, as well as Cuvee chocolate master Deniz Karaca and MasterChef’s ice-cream queen Christy Tania.
The event will showcase all things chocolate as well as the best local wines and produce.
Ministry of Chocolate owner and head chocolatier Drew Maddison expects more than 8000 visitors to the event.
‘‘We’re proud to have established an annual culinary festival during the normally quieter winter months,’’ he said.
‘‘The grassy outlook of Mitchelton Wines will again be lined with colourful marquees brimming with mouth-watering treats. Guests will also have the opportunity to walk through one of Australia’s largest and rarely seen underground wine cellars.
‘‘We’re thrilled to welcome Adriano Zumbo and Kirsten Tibbals back this year, as well as many more elevated chefs and industry leaders to be involved in this exciting festival.
‘‘We’ll also be holding the much-anticipated chocolate and wine pairing classes in the iconic Mitchelton Tower.’’
The festival will provide a much-needed boost to the region, with visitors expected to book in to local accommodation and likely explore the wider region during their stay.
The event includes several chocolate-themed competitions including the Callebaut best in show and the Cacao Barry best chocolate entrement.
Festival-goers will also have the opportunity to snag one of five golden tickets via a Facebook competition in the lead-up to the event.
The winners will receive front row seats to celebrity chef demonstrations, tickets to wine and chocolate pairing classes, a free lunch and some goodies to take home.
Entry to the festival is free and will include an exciting children’s zone complete with jumping castles and a petting zoo.
