Swanpool Community cinema will begin its new season on Friday, September 15, with a morning matinee screening of Their Finest starring Bill Nighy and Gemma Arterton.
Hot pastries, hot chocolate and real coffee can be enjoyed by the open fire at interval and before screenings in the Candy Bar.
Their Finest is a 2016 film that tells the story of a British Ministry of Information team producing a morale-boosting film about the Dunkirk evacuation during the Battle of Britain.
Regular Community Cinema double-bill screenings also begin on September 15 with a repeat of Their Finest and the classic British film Viceroy’s House starring Hugh Bonneville and Gillian Anderson.
The 1960s romantic comedy The Apartment will be shown during a fundraiser for the National Trust of Australia North East Women’s Auxiliary on September 18 at noon.
Mid-week matinees are also back with a screening of Viceroy’s House on September 20.
Fans of international cinema can attend screenings of French and German film Frantz on September 22, 23 and 24, which is part of a double bill with Lady Macbeth.
Frantz is a critically acclaimed film that tells the story of a young German girl grieving the death of her fiancé in France following World War II.
