Benalla Bowls Club held its opening day of the season on Saturday, with well over 80 people in attendance.
The club’s George Pryor was presented with a certificate from the club for turning 90, while Kath Nunan and Graham Watt were presented with their badges for turning 80. Gael Lange was presented with the club’s Volunteer of the Year award.
Last Friday’s bowls had 40 players in the club’s regular Friday jackpot pairs. Winners were I. Hobson and I. Brond with two wins, plus seven. Runners-up were P. Burns and D. McNulty with plus 14.
Last Wednesday’s bowls saw 78 players including visitors play two games of 14 ends in the club’s jackpot format.
Winners were R. Nankervis, A. Graham and T. Hill with plus 23. Runners-up were M. Steen, R. Goldsworthy and D. Lowen with plus 13.
In the indoor bowls last week two games of 12 ends were played, with G. Green, Joan Lemin, C. Levey and L. Watson coming up trumps.
Runners-up were W. Billman, V. King, M. Price and L. Billman.
Last Tuesday saw three games of eight ends, with winners on the day being W. Billman, V. Gillespie and Jack Lemin with two wins, plus 10. Runners-up were V. Haag, Joan Lemin and L. Billman.
