Nominations are open for the 2017 Public Oral Health Awards.

Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) is calling for nominations for the 2017 Public Oral Healthcare Awards.

The annual awards honour the achievements of those who have gone above and beyond to improve Victoria’s oral health and the public dental sector in the state.

DHSV chair Deborah Cole said there were many dedicated workers and volunteers helping to improve the oral health of Victorians.

‘‘We would love the opportunity to recognise the unsung heroes of Victorian public dentistry,’’ Dr Cole said.

Nominations can be made by members of the community and public dental staff.

The DHSV is the lead oral health agency in Victoria providing oral health services through The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne and in partnership with more than 50 community dental agencies throughout the state.

They also run statewide programs, invest in oral health research, advise the government on oral health policy and support the education of future oral health professionals.

Nominations can be made in 5 categories:

●The Star of Public Dentistry Award recognises staff in the Victorian public dental sector who have gone above and beyond their roles to improve oral health. Entries should demonstrate the nominee’s excellence in improving the oral health outcomes of the Victorian community.

●The Oral Health Project of the Year Award recognises public oral health projects that bring value to patient care and improve health outcomes.

●The Public Dental Clinic of the Year Award recognises DHSV agencies and teams working to improve the health outcomes of Victorians. Entrants should demonstrate how they bring value to patient care and how they improve the experience of their patients and/or staff members.

●The Community Oral Health Champion Award recognises individuals for their contribution to the Victorian public oral health sector, through a volunteer capacity or in partnership with DHSV staff.

Nominations close on Friday, October 13, at 5pm.
