Aussie rock legend Ella Hooper will perform at this year’s Benalla Festival, which runs from November 4 to 12.
Hooper who made her name with ’90s band Killing Heidi will lead the line-up for the Village by the Lake event on Saturday, November 11, which starts at 2.30pm.
Killing Heidi formed in 1996 when Ella was only 13 and went on to have several top-10 hits, including Mascara, which topped the charts in December 1999.
She was raised in Violet Town and went to school in Benalla, and will now return to entertain the crowds at the festival.
Benalla Festival Advisory Committee chair Councillor Barbara Alexander said the program for this year again offered a huge range of events.
‘‘Benalla and district will be on show to the many visitors to Benalla over the Festival period,’’ Cr Alexander said.
‘‘We have more than 40 events as part of the 2017 festival, including the Benalla Migrant Camp 50 years on celebrations, the Benalla Lawn Tennis Club Annual Tournament and Winton 300.’’

●The Benalla Street Market.
The Village by the Lake music line-up will also include Benalla-born singer-songwriter Ben Stolz and his band Broken River.
