Benalla continued its decade of dominance in A-grade netball, taking out the Goulburn Valley Netball League Premiership at Deakin Reserve on Sunday (September 30, 2007).
The Saints were impressive in their eight-goal win over Kyabram, the victory ensuring that the cup returns to Benalla for the seventh time in 10 years.
The 43-35 win came after two successive defeats to the Bombers, which made victory all the sweater for the Saints.
Coach Pip O’Donoghue had been using the losses as a motivating factor throughout the finals campaign, saying her charges simply wanted another opportunity to beat the Bombers, and her team did not let her down.
When the final whistle blew, it was a scene of jubilation — the Saints had once again stamped themselves as the best team the GVNL has to offer.
