A great day was had by all

Swanpool Bowls Club travelled last week to the top class Violet Town Green. The weather held off and a great day was had by all.

Benalla

Benalla Bowls Club’s Friday pairs winners were R. Lewis and D. Lindsay after a fine display last week.

The club’s regular jackpot game saw 40 competitors including visitors playing as the pair took the win with two wins plus 13 shots up.

Runners up on the day were J. Spinks and J. Nichols.

Last Monday’s action saw 24 bowlers, including visitor Graham Clemins from Redcliff in Queensland, playing in the BBC’s regular Monday pairs.

Winners were A. Farnham and H. Barber with 15 shots up.

In the indoor bowls last week, Thursday’s match saw winners in L. Brown, V, Haag and V. King. While last Tuesday’s winners were V. Haag, Joan Lemin and V. Pocknall.

Swanpool

At Swanpool, Lorraine Marshall and Jim Wood took out the pairs bowls match on top spot on Saturday.

The club’s Lance Bradshaw outlined the format for the coming pennant season and welcomed 24 players, who played three games of eight ends.

Marshall, the team’s skipper, and Wood claimed top spot.

Condolences go to Jenny Sievwright with the passing of Roger.

On Sunday, Swanpool ventured to Violet Town for the club’s annual social match.

After rain cleared 30 players hit the green.

Winning team was Keith Beaton (S), Wayne Armitage, Margaret Blake and Chris Armstrong.

Runners up were Doug Stewart, Lee Holmes, Rolly Holmes and Jenny Sievwright.

First match for the Saturday pennant is on Saturday against YMGCR at Yarrawonga. Round one of the Tuesday pennant is at Benalla.

Senior citizens

In the senior citizens bowls last Tuesday the team of N. DeBuck (S), J. Landewee, L. Scholz and A. Morris came out trumps.

Runners up were R. Elkan (S), G. Hernan, P. Edger and M. Williams.

On Friday, the winners were T. Anderson (S), N. Elkan and G. Leek. Runners up were A. Morris S L. Levy E. Haydon.

Saturday’s winners were T. Anderson (S), O. Wilson and M. Williams.

Runners up were L. Saunders, M. Lyon, N. Elkan and B. Symes.
