State Member for Euroa Steph Ryan visited Benalla Scouts at the 2017 Victorian Cuboree in Gembrook last week.
The week-long camp for Cub Scouts is held every three years and more than 3500 scouts from across Victoria, Tasmania and Queensland attended.
They were joined by more than 1000 leaders and support staff to take part in a range of activities, making it one of the biggest Cuborees yet.
Ms Ryan said the event represented the largest gathering of young people in Victoria this year.
‘‘The logistics of organising such an event are mind blowing and I commend all organisers and volunteers from across the state who took part,’’ Ms Ryan said.
‘‘Benalla was strongly represented at the Cuboree event.
‘‘I caught up with the Benalla Cub Pack who took the opportunity to lobby me about new toilet facilities at their scout hall.’’
The Cubs slept in tents and earned badges as they took part in different activities such as climbing, building projects and performing plays.
One of the highlights was the ‘wet and muddy’ activity.
Cub Scouts were also given the opportunity to act as Cub-reporters in videos which were posted to social media.
