The Benalla Business Network (BBN) has an opportunity for new members to join its leadership team heading into its annual general meeting later in the year.

The network will also host the Business Excellence Award on June 1 and is encouraging people to nominate a deserving business.

Nominations are open until January 31 with instructions on how and where to nominate due to be published in the Ensign on December 6.

Other ways a business can be involved with the BBN is to become a supporter of the business excellence awards.

Supporters will have great coverage with the awards being promoted by local radio, the Ensign, and through the BBN Facebook page and website.

For information on how to become an award sponsor, contact the BBN using the contact details at the end of this article.

The need for a new leadership team is partly because Benalla Business Network chair Louise Armstrong is stepping down from her role at the forthcoming AGM.

Ms Armstrong has been chair for the past four years, but says it is time for a new leader at the helm.

‘‘It’s been really rewarding to be involved in promoting Benalla businesses and trying to strengthen the local community, but it’s time for fresh leadership,’’ Ms Armstrong said.

‘‘We’ve built some very strong partnerships with various organisations such as the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

‘‘We’ve taken the Business Excellence Awards on to bigger and better things, we’ve re-branded the organisation and created a new website — there’s been lots of positives over the years.

‘‘It takes a lot of hard work from a dedicated team of volunteers to make that happen and I’ve been lucky to have a really great team of people around me, and support from council as well.’’

Vice chair Jenni Cogger will also be stepping down, but will remain on the committee to help guide and encourage new members to the team.

Being a member of the committee connects businesses in a way that provides benefits not only to the business community, but to the individual involved.

This can be through increased skill sets or to the broader ability of having first-hand knowledge of what is happening in business.

Keep an eye on the BBN website and Facebook page for details of the AGM.
