Benalla Rural City Council has accepted a request from the Friends of BPACC to rename one of their meeting rooms in memory of popular local man and avid theatre enthusiast Ian ‘‘Cumo’’ Cuming.

Mr Cuming passed away in November and will be remembered for his incredible contribution to BPACC, which he chaired for many years.

The decision was passed at a recent meeting of council.

Council staff and councillors spoke fondly of Ian and concluded that the idea to recognise him in a building he spent many hours assisting an organisation that was important to him was a great way to honour his memory.

Councillor Peter Smith said: ‘‘This is a very fitting idea.’’

The idea has been approved subject to the agreement of the Cuming family.
