Former Benalla boy Rob Oliver has been named chief executive officer of a newly formed company, Pilatus Defence Solutions Australia.

Former Benalla boy Rob Oliver has been named chief executive officer of a newly formed company, Pilatus Defence Solutions Australia.

When Rob was growing up on a farm just outside Baddaginnie he dreamed of joining the airforce.

After completing Year 12 at Benalla High that dream came true when he joined the Australian airforce, where he served for many years.

He credits much of his success to his years growing up in the area.

‘‘After 27 years in the RAAF I discharged as a Group Captain Engineer and since then I’ve worked for Pilatus for 11 years,’’ he said.

Pilatus recently announced that they have created Pilatus Defence Solutions Australia Pty Ltd (PilDEF), a new corporate entity, which will manage military contracts and operations in the Australasian region.

Following this announcement Pilatus confirmed the appointment of Rob Oliver as the CEO of PilDEF.

The Company will be headquartered at Sale in Victoria, close to their ADF customers at the RAAF’s Air Training Wing.

Rob said becoming CEO was a great reward for years of hard work.

‘‘I am pleased to be able to take Pilatus Defence operations forward in Australia to this next level,’’ he said.

‘‘We look forward to our proven team and superior performance assisting each of our partners in our combined aim of generating new aircrew for air power capability into the future.”
