Benalla footy boys Patrick Warner and Mark Marriott hope to create a spot for themselves in the 2018 Murray Bushrangers TAC Cup squad.
But it won’t be easy — they are two of 100 footy fanatics hoping to make the cut for the Bushies’ squad.
The Bushrangers’ pre-season training is well under way for the 2018 TAC Cup season; with 100 players trialling to make the final squad.
It could be a life-changing phone call for the two Benalla hopefuls, as the Bushrangers have produced some current elite AFL players through the annual draft.
Those still playing include Jy Simpkin, Brett Deledio, Steve Johnson, Jarrad Waite, Kayne Pettifer, Josh Schache and Clayton Oliver.
Marriott and Warner were members of the 2017 Bushrangers, with Marriott playing as a ruck forward and Warner managing just a handful of games because of injury.
Both are working hard among the group and when pre-season starts again on January 14, will be looking to continue to train well and perform in trial games to make the final cut.
The players began their pre-season in early November and have been completing two group sessions every week.
The whole group trains together at Wangaratta on Sundays with satellite sessions at Wodonga and Rumbalara during the week.
The pre-season squad has been working hard through running sessions along with skill and weight sessions taken by head coach Leon Higgins and assistant coaches Mark Brown, Mario De Santa Anna, Dale Carmody and Benalla local Daniel Preston.
Preston also forms part of the high-performance staff in strength and conditioning.
