The Benalla Hockey Club is excited to launch a new Summer Social Hockey program this week.
Starting at 6pm on Friday, February 9, social hockey is open to everyone over 10 years of age, with all abilities catered for.
No previous experience or fitness level is necessary, with modified games played on a quarter-field to enable everyone to have a go.
Thanks to former grants Officer Lee Manning, we have new equipment comprising of hockey sticks, shin pads, team vests and mini-goals available for use for all participants, after her successful application for funding from the VicHealth Active Club Grant.
This makes it a cost-effective way to give hockey a go.
‘‘We encourage families to come down and enjoy playing fun hockey together. Everyone is welcome to join in,’’ club member David McIntyre said.
‘‘How often do mums and dads get to play sport with — or even against their kids? This is what our Summer Social Hockey is all about,’’ president Roxanne Dowe said.
Social hockey will continue from 6pm every Friday throughout term one, at the Rupe Cheetham Hockey Field, Churchill Reserve, Waller St.
