Squads to go head to head

February 21, 2018

Benalla breakers in action against the Pirates.

Teams from across Australia will descend upon Benalla this coming weekend for Benalla Basketball Association’s Junior Basketball Tournament.

Among the 80 teams, from as far as Geelong and Tumut, eight will be from the Benalla Breakers Representative teams including under-12 boys and girls teams up to the under-18 boys squad.

Games will be played at the Benalla Indoor Recreation Centre, the P-12 College Stadium and the ECA Centre beginning on Friday evening and concluding with all finals being played on Sunday afternoon.

The Benalla Tournament concludes the representative team’s squad season after competing at tournaments in Echuca, Wangaratta, Shepparton and last weekend in Wodonga.

In the Wodonga Tournament the under-16 girls Breakers squad won through to the final of their division. They were outplayed in the final, going down to Rochester Tigers who were the form team of the tournament.

Qualifying for the final was a massive breakthrough for the girls and we hope they carry this form through their home tournament this coming weekend.

After the Benalla tournament, some of our squad teams will travel to their respective Basketball Victoria Country Championships where they will do battle with some of the strongest teams from across the state.

If you would like to learn more about representative basketball or come and cheer on the Benalla Breakers teams, get along to one of the stadiums this weekend and support Benalla Breakers.
