Quick response to gas leak

A gas leak on Faithfull St had residents worried on Friday, however, a quick response by CFA and police prevented the incident becoming more serious.

The leak occurred after a resident fractured a gas pipe while digging in the garden on the north-side of the railway line.

The alarm was raised shortly before midday and sent out emailed warnings for the public to avoid the area while the leak was sealed.

Police told the Ensign they were not worried about the leak, but they did keep the public at a safe distance for more than an hour.

Faithfull St was re-opened shortly before 2pm.
