The Benalla Pony Club horse trials have been successful once again.
This year’s event was a little different to previous years — it was run over two days, which took the pressure off the volunteers and riders and spread the workload over the weekend.
A record number of adult riders supported the competition with loads of great placings and happy competitors.
Pony club riders had a great time testing their skills over the three disciplines — dressage, show-jumping and the final fun event cross country.
Shantelle Paton-McKenzie, 15, was a standout, winning the grade three pony club horse trials.
Shantelle has been funded by Benalla Youth Sportspersons Trust, which has helped her purchase the most up-to-date safety vest and approved helmet, as well other equipment needed for riding.
Lachlan Campbell, 9, won the grade five pony club horse trials on his pony Shanti.
Lachlan won last season’s north-east zone pony club grade five dressage championship, as well as the F grade show jumping championship.
