Test your wheels and your skills at Winton

March 30, 2018

Budding race drivers will have the chance of a lifetime at the Winton Motor Raceway Fun Day on Easter Monday.

The day offers people the chance to drive their own car around the track and feel like a professional race car driver for a fee of just $100 per driver and $50 per passenger — making it an awesome experience to share with family and friends.

Gates will open at 8am with scrutineering commencing at 8.15am and a compulsory drivers’ briefing at 9.30am, after which the action will begin on the track.

Speeds will be restricted for safety reasons.

This is an opportunity to come and try your hand in a controlled environment.

All vehicles must be roadworthy or race worthy.

Drivers must remove spare wheels, jacks and all loose items from their vehicle before its safety check during scrutineering, and must receive an ‘OK’ sticker before being allowed onto the circuit for the first time.

Drivers and passengers must wear non-flammable cotton or — preferably — wool clothing (no nylon) covering wrist to neck to ankles. Proper enclosed footwear must be non-flammable; no thongs or sandals will be permitted.

All participants must wear a helmet which complies with current Australian Standards.

The activities will be conducted in sessions of 15 minutes for drivers only and passengers.

All vehicles must have an effective muffler fitted to its exhaust system in a manner which will reduce the engine noise. Maximum noise level permitted is 95dBA.

Carports are available to hire before the event for a cost of $30, and lockable garages are also available at a cost of $50; phone the Winton Raceway office on (03)57607100 to reserve a spot.

There will be a free kids’ cruise at lunch time behind the safety car.
