Federal Member for Indi Cathy McGowan says confirmation of tomorrows community consultation on the $235 million north-east rail line upgrade is good news for Indi.
‘‘At last we will see community leaders and stakeholders have their say on the schedule of works for the project,’’ Ms McGowan said.
‘‘I am delighted that following my meetings with the offices of the Victorian Premier Dan Andrews, Victorian Transport Minister Jacinta Allan and Federal Transport and Infrastructure Minister Michael McCormack, as well as V/Line CEO James Pinder that the Hume Corridor Passenger Group will be briefed on Thursday, May24.’’
Transport for Victoria and the Australian Rail Transport Corporation (ARTC) will present its update on the scope of works and the delivery schedule to the Hume Corridor Passenger Group, including representatives from local government and the Border Rail Action Group (BRAG).
The consultation is expected to continue for a number of weeks ahead of the release of the schedule of works.
‘‘I look forward to sharing further information with the electorate about the upgrade as the community consultation gets under way,’’ Ms McGowan said.
‘‘It’s good to see the federal and state governments are working together to address the series of faults, delays and cancellations that have impacted upon the passenger experience since Christmas.
‘‘I am pleased that Minister Allan has committed the Victorian Government to setting a timeframe for new trains once the scope and schedule of works on track is finalised.’’
