The All Blacks recorded a huge percentage-boosting win on Saturday, keeping North Wangaratta to just one goal in their 265-point victory.

The Panthers came out firing, proving to be too hard of a task to catch for the Hawks.

Panthers coach Harry Moran said despite some disappointing attempts at goal, the All Blacks were happy to walk away with such a convincing win.

‘‘It was a pretty pleasing defensive effort, it’s very rare to keep a team to one goal,’’ he said.

Chris O’Connor racked up eight goals for the Panthers, while Joel Bate, Tim Ryan, Nich Spencer and Riley Moran were named among some of the best performers.

The final scoreboard reading (40.35) 275 to (1.4) 10 in the Panthers’ favour.

Coach Moran said the comfortable lead throughout the game allowed for younger kids Zach Cooke and Shawn Pentreath to step up and get a run in the senior side.

‘‘We looked to give them as much game time as we can given they’re going to be the future of the club,’’ he said.

‘‘We also moved players around to different positions for them to get in some more fitness.

‘‘It’s good to see that for bigger occasions when we need more options we know where different players can play.’’

While the Panthers have struggled with injuries throughout the early stages of the season, Moran said players are on the mend and looking to return in the weeks to come.

With the Panthers still securing their place at the top of the Ovens and King League ladder, they now look to take on Bright for round eight.

Moran said the team is looking forward to the clash away from home.

‘‘It should be a good test, we expect them to put in a good performance, so we’re looking forward to it,’’ he said.

‘‘We’ll make sure we train hard and have a solid week on the track.

‘‘Once game day comes we’ll look to get the job done up there.’’

That match will kick off at 2.15pm Saturday at Bright Recreation Reserve.
