Swanpool and District Table Tennis results for Wednesday, May 23:
A-grade: At Tatong the Wombats’ Andrew and Adam Marriott scored a solid four-rubbers-to-one win against the Farmers’ Damian Young and Stuart Smith.
The match was closer than the score implies with only a few points of difference between winner and loser for most of the games.
Andrew Marriott was the only player to win both of his singles.
Also at the Tatong Hall, the Tigers’ Rob Erskine and Bruce Forster won their hard-fought match against the Cranes’ Tim Butler and Paul Shea, scoring five rubbers to nil.
Shea took one game from Forster in their three-game singles rubber.
In the match at the Lima School hall between the Eagles’ Shaun Murphy and Jim Renkin and the Bombers’ John Bajada and Col Exton, Murphy for the Eagles was a force to be reckoned with as he stormed through his two singles rubbers a clear winner.
His effort was not enough though to win the match as the Bombers had a singles win each against Renkin.
Their win in the doubles was the match decider in their favour, scoring three rubbers to two.
B-grade: This match at Tatong resulted in a close three-rubbers-to-two win to the Tatong Saints’ Geoff Draper and Danny Grima.
They defeated the Swans’ Chris Seeley and Pam Herbert due to their doubles win after the teams were even on two singles rubber wins each.
Seeley was the top player winning both of his singles rubbers.
