Over the past few weeks, the school students have been raising money for Foodbank with a memorable school-wide food fight taking place next week to cap off the hard work.
“The food fight is just slime and other concoctions that will mimic food,” Principal Lindy Burke said.
“The kids will have this big, fake food fight, like a fun run on the oval, and then afterwards, some of the teachers will be slimed.”
As the total amount raised by the school reaches certain benchmarks, different teachers are getting added to the roster of people who are getting slimed.
“We’ve raised $14,350 so far, and I’m meant to get smiled when we reach $15,000, so I’m very certain I’ll be getting ticked off for that soon,” Ms Burke said.
She said seeing the kids motivated to help Foodbank has been a really proud moment for her as a principal.
"Most of the kids have been touched by Foodbank in some way, and with all the things they supply for us, like fruit and milk, we owe them big time. So the kids were excited,” she said.
“Of course, having the opportunity to slime the teachers has been a big motivator, as well as the ability for them to earn prizes. The students get some sort of prize depending on how much they raise.”
Students like Harry said it felt good to help raise money for a group like Foodbank. So far, Harry has raised about $700.
“It’s good to help them because they help out our food club so we can make awesome food for people who didn’t have breakfast,” he said.
“They also help families who don’t have enough money to get some breakfast, dinner, and lunch.”
Ava, who has raised $150 so far, said there is one person in particular she is looking forward to sliming.
“Ms Hamilton because she’s my Mum.”
