Seven towns.
Eleven photographers.
The North East Travelling Dress Loop saw a group of women photographers across north-east Victoria, including Benalla, come together to do something creative.
A floral vintage dress was bought in April last year and during the next five months each photographer captured it in a different setting before sending it on to the next participant.
Starting in Albury in April, it travelled to Yarrawonga, Benalla, Shepparton, Kyabram, Echuca and Rutherglen before making its way back to Albury in September.
Benalla photographer Jessica Fitzgibbon, of Jessica Rose Lifestyle Photography, had the opportunity to capture the dress last year.
Jessica’s was a atmospheric image of a model wearing the dress on a hilltop near Lurg.
‘‘I got the opportunity to take part thanks to another photographer from north east Victoria. She was a part of it and she invited me to take part,’’ Jessica said.
‘‘We didn’t see anybody else’s work, so nobody new what the other photographers had done.
‘‘I suppose from a photographers point of view, when you’re photographing for other people, or as part of a project, you are not necessarily being as creative as you normally might be.
‘‘So it was a great opportunity to be able to work within a set of guidelines but to photograph in a unique way.’’
Jessica said on the day of the shoot time constraints helped the creative process.
‘‘We were pretty limited with time as it was earlier in the year and it was getting dark,’’ Jessica said.
‘‘So I had to work with the light I had and get the shoot done quite quickly. But I was really happy with how the photos turned out.’’
The project will be on display in Echuca, at the Foundry Arts Space, from February 14 to March11, open daily from 10am to 4pm except Tuesdays.
