In a special ceremony at Government House, Mr Renkin was presented the honour from Her Excellency the Honorable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria.
After receiving news of his award on Australia Day of this year, Mr Renkin had said he felt humbled to receive such acknowledgement.
‘‘You don’t volunteer for recognition, that’s not why you do it,’’ Mr Renkin said.
‘‘But it is very nice when it comes along.’’
Mr Renkin’s contributions to his community have been far reaching.
This includes his involvement with the Country Fire Authority where he has held various positions including 14 years as Captain at Swanpool.
He has also been involved with Swanpool’s Tennis and Table Tennis clubs, the local primary school and held numerous roles, including coach, secretary and player at the Swanpool Football Club.
Mr Renkin has been recognised with several awards during the years, including the National Emergency Medal in 2016, the National Medal in 2011 and was the recipient of the Swanpool and District Citizen of the Year award in 2002.
