This year’s theme is ‘‘Making a World of Difference’’, and the volunteers will be honoured at 10.30am in the Michael Long Education Centre.
Benalla Mayor Scott Upston will be guest speaker at the event.
Certificates and badges will be presented by Benalla Health Board chair Louise Armstrong and chief executive officer Janine Holland.
Several volunteers will receive long-service badges:
●Marg Alley and Al Heffron — 10 years of service.
●Laurie Melgaard — 15 years of service.
And long-serving volunteers Julia O’Brien (21 years) and Dorothy Meagher (28 years) will also be recognised.
Ms Holland said Benalla Health volunteers gave their time in supporting clients in palliative care, acute ward, day activities, day procedure and aged care.
‘‘We proudly acknowledge the social, economic and cultural contributions that our volunteers make in allowing our service to run so efficiently,’’ Ms Holland said.
‘‘Volunteering plays a vital role in the development of social cohesion and social connection, both of which help alleviate loneliness, and we have often received praise from our patients and clients about the quality contribution our volunteers make.’’
