‘‘Labor’s callously cut more than a quarter of the funds from the veteran’s budget, from $10.5 million to $7.7 million,’’ Mr Bull said.
‘‘Next year, is a significant year for our veterans and our history as a state and as a nation, marking the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
‘‘More than 27000 Australians were killed and 23000 wounded in action during World War II.
‘‘In addition, hundreds more were killed and injured in accidents.
‘‘But it’s not just those who served our country in the past that will be affected by this funding cut.
‘‘We also have a number of contemporary veterans requiring support.’’
Mr Bull described support for our veterans as non-negotiable.
‘‘For Daniel Andrews to have carved off a quarter of the funds allocated to our veterans is callous and disrespectful,’’ Mr Bull said.
‘‘In a State Budget that is taxing Victorians more and has borrowings that will more than double the state’s debt, Labor should not be targeting our veterans to pay for its own multi-billion-dollar cost blowouts.’’
