Halla is a 50-year-old independent Icelandic woman known as the Mountain Woman.
She is a passionate environmental activist secretly waging a one-woman war on the local aluminium industry and risking everything to conserve the pristine Icelandic highlands.
Screening second in the International double bill is, The Reports On Sarah And Saleem (Unclassified 18+).
A thriller set across the Israeli-Palestinian border.
Sarah is Israeli and runs a cafe in West Jerusalem and Saleem is a Palestinian delivery man from East Jerusalem.
The two risk everything as they embark on an illicit affair with catastrophic consequences and not even the truth can save them.
The double feature will screen on Friday, June 14, at 6pm and on Sunday, June 16, at 5pm.
Environmental Film Festival
Book a place now for the 7th Swanpool Environmental Film Festival on Saturday, June 15, starting at 1pm.
The program has three sessions with speakers and a film.
Catering by the capable Swanpool team will include a delicious afternoon tea and a tasty evening meal.
Speakers and films for the three sessions are:
Session One: Dr Tilman Ruff and film System Error.
Session Two: Prof Samantha Hepburn and a Short Enviro Film Fest.
Session Three: Prof Tim Reeves and film 2040.
Attendees will be particularly interested to hear Dr Tilman Ruff’s talk.
Tilman and Charlotte are landholders in the Lima East valley and he has offered to bring along his Nobel Peace Prize medal for display.
Professor Hepburn’s talk is relevant to our times with environmental laws and determinations now being challenged.
Professor Tim Reeves will talk about food production with a global perspective.
