On Saturday, part one of the ‘‘Crothers Classic’’ sponsored by Crothers Joinery was conducted consisting of a 4BBB Stableford event, 72 players entered the popular event.

The winners for the day were Peter Bridgfoot and Dave Saunders who finished with the magnificent score of 51 points.

Coming second with 48 points on a three-way countback was Boyd Macarty and Bob Arthur.

In third place also on 48 points was Ray Jenson and Nathan Delaney.

KFC Birdies: Gary Smith, Adam Levy, Cameron McMahen, Alan Moore and Ben Van Den Aker.

Cameron McMahen had another eagle, this time on the fourth hole. The club said if he keeps this up Wildlife Victoria will be looking for him.

A fine, but windy day encouraged 63 players out to a Stableford event last Wednesday.

The best score for the day was recorded by Dave Saunders with 38 points to win B-grade with Les Thompson runner up on 37 points.

The A-grade winner was Ken Levy with 37 points from runner-up Wayne Hocking on 35 points.

Bob Arthur won C-grade with 35 points on a countback from Bob Munro also with 35.

Next Saturday, March 6, is a Men’s and Women’s 4BBB Stableford sponsored by Benalla Travel.

The second day of the Crothers Classic was held on Monday with 56 players competing in a four person teams event.

The overall Crothers Classic winners for the two day event were Les Cairnes, Brett Dosser, Dave Dunster and Steve Collinson.

They were also the winning men’s team with 100 points.

The Women’s winning team with 83 points was Hazel Briggs, Marsha Watson, Ann Thomson and Jenny O’Brien.

The winning mixed team with 89 points was Marion Cowan, Meredith Badrock, Bob Munro and Brad Frampton.

Women’s golf

The 4BBB stableford played on Thursday, March7, was won by Marsha Watson and Jackie Rubira with 44 points.

Runners-up were Marg Brown and Lyn Symes with 42 points on countback.

A. Brown and C. Day 42 points, B. Dobson and J. Baker 41c/b, M. Badrock and M. Felmingham 41c/b.

Winners were Marsha and Jackie who qualified to play on in the Royal Women’s Hospital event.

This week a stableford round for the Colin and Wilma Boyd Trophy will be played on Thursday and a stableford on Saturday.
