Tatura took the early lead in the opening term, with Benalla wasteful in front of goal with five behinds.
But the Saints turned their fortunes around to score two goals in the second term to take a slim nine-point lead into half-time.
And it was eight unanswered goals in the second half that saw Benalla run away with the contest in the end, though a 10.21 scoreline for the Saints meant greater accuracy around the big sticks could have seen the teens take a more dominant win over their opponents.
Young gun James Davies returned to the Under-18 squad after a stint in the seniors and proved to be one of the Saints’ best, while David Button and Luke Dunne also played crucial roles in the win.
Benalla’s Adam Walsh and Tom Levy were the Saints’ best down forward, each kicking two goals.
The Saints will now travel to face Mooroopna this Saturday, with the Cats sitting above the Saints on the ladder with five wins of their own this year.
