Victoria have been bundled out cheaply on day one of their crucial Sheffield Shield match at the WACA as Western Australia's seam attack took full advantage of some favourable conditions.
The ladder-leading Vics lasted just 43.5 overs after being sent in to bat and were dismissed for 114.
At tea, WA were 0-30 with Sam Whiteman (28no) and former Test opener Cameron Bancroft (2no) at the crease.
Victoria's plight could have been far worse but for a 47-run stand between Matt Short (43) and Sam Harper (18).
The pair came together at 5-44 but Harper's dismissal kick-started another slide as the visitors lost their final five wickets for the addition of just 23 runs.
Young allrounder Aaron Hardie was the main destroyer, firing out four top-order batters to pick up 4-24.
Hardie was ably assisted by Matthew Kelly (2-27) who dismissed the returning Will Pucovski (22), and Joel Paris (2-27).
