With the return of the Murray Valley Cricket Association, Cobram starts its quest to retain its title of premiers after clinching last season's premier division flag.
The reigning premier squares off against the Deniliquin Rhinos at Memorial Park in a replay of last year's grand final.
After suffering a heavy loss in that decider, the Rhinos will be desperate to get revenge on the Tigers come Saturday.
And excitement continues to grow around the arrival of the Tigers' newest recruit Rynard de Lange, a South African import.
The opening bowling star will no doubt help boost Cobram's title defence for the season, bringing with him a wealth of experience, having played premier cricket in his home nation.
Meanwhile, Cobram-Yarroweyah United is having another crack at premier grade after dropping down to first grade midway through last season.
United hits the road on Saturday, challenging Katamatite in the opening round of the season.
Barooga has to wait another week for its season opener after drawing the bye this weekend.
As well as the cricket, Cobram's all conquering Goulburn Murray Lawn Tennis Association outfit the Cobram Crocs take to the courts on Saturday in the first weekend of the new season.
Fresh off the grand final victory last season in the East third division, the Crocs have made the jump up into second division.
In March, the Crocs defeated Nathalia by eight games in a tense 7-90 to 7-82 grand final, with star performer Marika Newey claiming the women’s section season MVP, in what was a strong season for the tennis squad.
Also hitting the grass courts are the Cobram Cobras, with last year's men’s section MVP Mario Bruni set to light up the show.
