Last week's question: Name three ways an end can be declared a non-scoring end.
Answer: 1. If upon measuring it can't be decided who has shot; 2. If a bowl from either side is touching the jack; and 3. if there are no bowls left on the rink.
This week's question: If before a bowl has been played by each team, a player notices that the wrong team has delivered the jack. What happens?
What a final round of pennant. Division one and two had to win in Saturday pennant as did division two in Friday pennant. Divisions three and four were safe in the four but a win is always wanted.
The two's in Friday pennant had a forfeit by Nathalia, which guaranteed the division fourth spot and now will play Numurkah Golf at a venue to be advised. Division one in Friday pennant had a good win against Toc Golf and finished third on the ladder. The side will play Numurkah at a venue to be advised.
Saturday pennant saw division one up against Finley RSC, which was second, with Barooga third, but would have gone out of the four if defeated. In a epic battle with the fate of the team hanging on one last shot by Finley, Barooga hung on to win by one shot. Three rinks down but Ray Emerson's team won by 15 shots, which was enough to win and finished in second spot with the double chance. Next week it will be against Wunghnu.
Division two was in fifth spot and had to win with as many rinks up as possible to make the four. The side did it in style, winning on all four rinks after being down at the tea break. The side made the four, finishing in third spot, and will play Berrigan next week.
Division three finished in fourth spot and will play Wunghnu next week. The side won by four shots against Toc Golf at Toc Golf, which is a fair effort and gives the players confidence for next week. Division four had the bye but finished the season only one point behind Cobram in second place. The side will play Cobram next week at a venue to be advised.
Practice this week is important with the Friday pennant teams meeting at 9 am today for a full blown practice, with division one against division two. Please be on time to enable teams to be sorted in case someone is missing. Please make sure you come along to enable a full practice session in your teams in preparation for next Friday. Men's practice is still at 4.30 pm with a barbecue to follow, so make sure you attend and as our coach has said we are to play short ends only.
On Friday, Keith's Friday was run by Ray Wright, with the winners being Kevin Kennedy and Ray Wright with +18. Heather Crosthwaite with Graeme Hickey finished runners up with 11. Best first game went to Jim Escott and Peter Russell with 13. Best second game went to Geoff Brentnall and Gavan Cullen with 10 and these two also won the jackpot of nearly $300. Great to see it go to people who always support Keith's Friday.
On Friday night, the Friday pennant crew held an end of season break up, although this year it is not a break up as both teams are in finals. A great night was held on the lawn of the club with food supplied and prepared by Neil and Sheila Duffield. A special guest arrived named Rayleen Wright much to every ones amusement.
This week is “Share the Wealth” starting at the new time of 10 am. More names required, single entries are acceptable, so get your name down or ring the club. Also, 100-up needs numbers, so get names in for that also.
