Police said the vehicle left the road about 8pm, west of Bradley Lane, and collided with a tree before rolling onto its side.
The 21 year-old, whose family has requested not be named, was the sole occupant of the car.
Emergency services report the man had no visible life threatening injuries, but with spinal injury unable to be ruled out was sent to Deniliquin Hospital for further assessment.
The man’s father told the Pastoral Times his son was then airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where he is ‘‘doing okay’’.
‘‘He is doing okay, but more tests are being done today,’’ his father said yesterday morning.
‘‘I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the emergency services, volunteers, doctors, nurses, ambulance, helicopter pilots and everyone else for their help.’’
Deniliquin Police, Mid-Murray Rural Fire Service brigades, Deniliquin Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance and Volunteer Rescue Association all responded to the incident.
‘‘With the potential of a fire, and observing smoke coming from the vehicle, the driver was quickly removed and put in to the care of paramedics,’’ Deniliquin VRA Captain Chris Holloway said.
‘‘We then remained on scene to provide lighting for police, and to help with the clean up of debris and the removal of the vehicle.
‘‘It is another great example of emergency services working together to assist those in need.’’
As well as assessing the risk of a fire with thermal imaging equipment, Deniliquin FRNSW also evaluated any hazmat risk to the environment from oil and fuel spills.
