Play will start at 12.30pm at Deniliquin’s Memorial Park.
The Rhinos are coming off a big win two weeks ago against Cobram-Yarroweyah United.
Thanks to a solid knock from opening batsman Dean Edge (83 runs) and their second drop Andrew Hogan (76 runs) the Rhinos were able to compile a solid 282 runs.
They then used seven bowlers to ensure CYU were unable to reach the target. Captain Brad Todd proved to be very economical rolling his arm over for nine overs, finishing with five maidens, one wicket for 24 runs.
In just four overs Liam Pitts was able to produce a solid spell contributing two wickets for 24 runs.
In their last match up against the Bloods during round 12 of the 2018/19 season, they suffered a shock loss, falling short in a run chase set at 250 runs to lose by four wickets.
They will be keen to see this result is not repeated.
Todd said the team was able to utilise the extra time between rounds over the past fortnight to tighten errors from the CYU game and focus on a general improvement in their bowling this weekend.
‘‘We did a fair bit of fielding training last Thursday as we weren’t too flash in that department against CYU,’’ he said.
‘‘It would be nice for us to continue spreading the runs each week so we don’t become too reliant on one person. Dean batted really well against CYU and we want to see others in the top of the order scoring runs.
‘‘Hopefully the other guys in the top six — Ash Germano, Andrew Hogan, Liam Pitts and Brodie Bennett — can feature in the runs again when they get their chance.
‘‘I am looking to see an improved effort from everyone with the ball and in the field this week as we let ourselves down in patches against CYU.
‘‘Toc knocked us off last year at home in the last game before the finals, so we definitely can’t be taking them lightly this weekend,’’ Todd said.
The Rhinos’ division one side will play an away game tomorrow against Barooga, starting at 1pm.
After having two weeks off with a double bye, the Rhinos hope to continue their winning ways off the back of a solid 53 runs from Anthony Bradley against Berrigan.
Berrigan were bowled out for 96 courtesy of strong contributions from Rhys Westcott, who finished with three wickets off eight overs, and Chris Pyle and Dean Herberte who took two wickets apiece.
‘‘Wrigs (Bradley), had a great knock the last game out, and with him in the division one side it settles the top/middle order and gives them a bit of experience as well,’’ Todd said..
‘‘Hopefully he can continue his form and get support from guys like Jonty Tubb, Chris Pyle, Mitch Jefferies and Kyle Ives.’’
This will be the first time the Rhinos will see action against Barooga since the 2017/18 season.
The Rhinos’ division two side will play at home against Katunga tomorrow starting at 1pm, with the Under 14s taking on Tocumwal White at home starting at 8.30am.
