A 35 year-old Benalla man was arrested on Murray St in Tocumwal on Sunday following a random breath test at 11.13pm.
The man, while he had a current licence at the time of the arrest, had a warrant for driving while disqualified.
Police searched the car and found a sawed-off firearm and ammunition in bags.
Police arrested and charged the Benalla man with the outstanding warrant and are continuing their enquiries into the firearm.
Building fire at tip
Police are investigating a fire that was lit in the demountable at the gate of the Tocumwal tip on Sunday after the discovered the building had been broken into.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 7.30am and reported to police that entry into the building appeared to be forced.
Police confirmed two doors, including the toilet door, were forced in, windows were smashed, an extinguisher was "messed with" and a small fire was lit.
According to police, the fire did not cause a lot of damage and their enquiries into the incident are continuing.
Several un-installed windows were stolen from a building site in Barooga last week.
Police said about 20 windows in total were taken between 8pm on Thursday September 5 and 1.30pm on Saturday September 7.
Police said it appeared that three of the windows were dropped on the road between Barooga and Tocumwal, possibly from a vehicle, and were too damaged to be returned to be used.
Malicious damage to car
An unknown substance was poured on a vehicle in a yard in Berrigan between 6.30pm on Saturday and midday on Sunday, causing paint damage.
