At just 11, Olivia Thompson claimed victory in division two of the Tuesday women's stableford competition recently.
Olivia has being playing golf since she was five and has fallen in love with the sport.
She has been learning as much as possible, with her confidence and skill levels growing quickly.
“I've been learning at the weekend morning one-hour lessons from the golf pro and my dad helps teach me otherwise,” she said.
“I couldn't imagine a life without golf, I couldn't imagine not playing.
“I think I'll be good one day. I like golf because you don't get hot, unlike other sports.
“I also like the peacefulness of golf and the people. Everyone is really nice to me and to the other juniors.”
After winning at Tocumwal on Saturday, April 18, Olivia has turned her attention to father-daughter rivalry.
“I hope I'll be better than Dad one day but he drives the ball a lot further then me,” she said.
“I think the only thing I can get better than Dad at, is on the green.
“I've beat him once in stableford points, which was good.
“I did a stroke event and got 72 net which was one under par with my handicap when I played the other weekend.
“Everyone was very supportive of me at the club when I won.”
Olivia has been looking for ways she can improve her golf.
She said while she was enjoying trying to hit the ball as far as possible, for the time being she had shored up her short game.
“Currently I'm good with the driver but I like my sand wedge.
“If I'm 20 or 30 feet away from the green I get out the wedge and just chip it onto the green.”
