Ms Johnson, who was instrumental in the election of Helen Haines to the federal seat of Indi in her guise as spokesperson for Voices for Indi, has been reappointed to GMW for a four-year term.
Her appointment is among a series made by Victorian Water Minister Lisa Neville, assuring GMW of strong, consistent leadership in the years ahead, with no other appointments due before 2021.
Ms Johnsonis a renowned advocate for women in leadership, particularly in the agriculture sector.
From a fifth generation farming family, she is a former Victorian Rural Women’s Award winner and was named in the inaugural 100 Women of Influence in Australia by the Australian Financial Review.
“Alana ... continues to share (her) wealth of experience with GMW’s board of directors, which includes expertise in community engagement, regional development and public administration,” GMW chairman Diane James said.
“This is a show of confidence from the minister in GMW’s leadership and governance going forward.”
The minister’s latest round of board appointments has achieved gender parity across Victoria’s 19 water corporations and 10 catchment management authorities.
GMW shares in this diversity, with women comprising five of its 10 directors, including Ms James and managing director Charmaine Quick.
