Honorary membership is used to recognise people who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service and embody Rotary ideals, or those considered friends of Rotary for their support of Rotary's causes.
The club board and membership felt that both were worthy recipients of this honour because of their involvement with ROTEX.

They have represented Rotary District 9790 at forums to discuss youth mental health and participating in Rotary work parties to Fiji and Tanzania later this year, which Lauren will be joining.
ROTEX comprises former exchange students who volunteer to help the Rotary Youth Exchange Committee to plan and execute activities with inbound and/or outbound exchange students.
Rotexians are there to help share some of their experience as exchange students, with students who are starting (or about to start) their exchange experience.

Lauren and Grace are participating in youth mental health work within District 9790 specifically to provide support for Rotary Youth Exchange students.
This initiative is being run through ROTEX with the full support and participation of Brian Peters, District 9790 Governor.
This will operate using the principles of Rotary’s Headspace Foundation.

Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12 to 25 year olds.
It also offers assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing.
This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.
