Benalla RSL donates more than $1200 to local groups

By Simon Ruppert

The RSL club of Benalla recently donated more than $1200 to local groups, which was raised at its annual Diggers Golf Day.

The Tomorrow Today Foundation and the Rose City Band were each given cheques for $630 at last week's RSL meeting.

RSL member Ross Wallace said the group hosted two annual golf days, the Diggers Day in Benalla and the Legacy Day in Golden Vale.

“So everything we raise at the Golden Vale event goes to Legacy,” Mr Wallace said.

“And all money raised at the Diggers Day goes to local organisations, so today we have presented cheques to Tomorrow Today and the Rose City Band.

“We owe the Benalla Golf Club a deep sense of gratitude for their support with the Diggers Day.

“They take $12 from all entrants, then donate it straight back to us to hand out to local organisations.

“Our sponsors also help out a lot but this extra from the golf club allows us to give significantly more.”
