The dedicated volunteers were presented with long service medals by NSW RFS Chief Superintendent Kelwyn White, who was joined by Edward River Council Mayor Peta Betts and other special guests to mark the occasion.
Chief Superintendent White said the 12 recipients had together given a total of 397 years of service to the community.
“The members being recognised today with long service medals and/or clasps range from 13 to 70 years of service, with a special mention to the family of the late Terence Colman who are here to receive his award posthumously today for his incredible 70 years of service to the NSW RFS.
“Whilst I acknowledge that many of you, perhaps all of you, don’t volunteer for awards and accolades, it’s important to recognise your contribution if not for you, for your families,” she said.
Chief Superintendent White congratulated each of the Pine Lea Brigade volunteers on their dedication, commitment and service to their communities.
“We also thank the family, friends, employers and colleagues of all NSW RFS volunteers.
“We know it takes their ongoing support and patience to assist and enable our volunteers to do what they do to save lives and property.”
