In the 24 hours to midday on Tuesday, January 25, Benalla Rural City recorded just three new cases — the lowest number for some weeks.
As people continue to recover at a faster rate than new infections are reported the number of active cases listed has now dropped to 96.
There has still been some issues with access to rapid antigen tests (RATs), so those figures may be under-reported.
However with the Victorian Government ordering new tests in the tens of millions daily figures should begin to reflect most cases — provided the public is diligent in reporting positive RATs.
Across Victoria Tuesday’s figures showed 6287 positive PCR tests and 8539 positive RATs.
There are now 183,154 active cases in the state.
Sadly 29 people lost their lives as a result of contracting COVID-19 in the 24 hours to midday Tuesday, bringing the total number of Victorian lives lost to 1850 since the pandemic began.
In the region some LGAs are faring better than others:

Strathbogie Shire: Three new and 84 active cases;
