The Moira Shire grant will be used to help buy an 11-seater all-abilities community bus for use by residents of Pioneer Lodge and Karinya Nursing Home.
The grant was awarded under the Moira Shire’s Community Strengthening Grants Program, with four projects sharing $26,149.
Cobram Football Club will also receive $10,000 to help in creating a new spectator shelter.
St James Golf Club received $1804 to replace old curtains which will improve the clubhouse.
The carpet will also be replaced but has been included in council’s renewal program for 2022-23.
The Yarrawonga and Border Agricultural and Pastoral Association will receive $4345 for the installation of an evaporative cooler in the Hammon pavilion.
Moira Shire Mayor Libro Mustica said council grants were a great way to kick start a community initiative, with the grants designed to support community organisations that provide diverse and effective local services, facilities and activities.
“These grants help facilitate projects which enrich the whole community and can assist in the development of services, management of facilities, co-ordination of events and promotion of tourism, environmental sustainability and health in the community,” he said.
“This latest round of grants will help community groups from St James, Yarrawonga, Numurkah and Cobram.
“Congratulations to those community groups.”
