Local Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal volunteers need your help to ensure they can raise as much as they can.
The Good Friday Appeal is a charity which raises money to enable The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne to provide world class care for our children.
In tandem with a nationally televised telethon, communities run their own events to contribute.
Finley fundraising coordinator Vanessa Kydd became involved with the appeal in 2017, the year after her son Allister died.
He was only six months old, and had the rare genetic condition Spinal Muscular Atrophy (Type 1).
Mrs Kydd’s heartbreaking experience has led her to do all she can to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Last year, in the midst of a pandemic, the district community helped raise more than $9000.
Mrs Kydd is hoping to collect as much, or more this year.
But she says she needs help to do so.
“If you're interested in volunteering, please let me know by calling or texting me on 0488 461 658, or send me a Facebook message.
“You can also talk to me in person, I'd love to meet and volunteer with you!”
Mrs Kydd siad the only requirement you need to volunteer, is proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
“According to the requirements set by the appeal organisers, all volunteers are required to be COVID vaccinated this year,” she said.
“Volunteers will also be asked to provide evidence of vaccination status upon request.
“Fully vaccinated in New South Wales is defined as if you have two doses of an approved vaccine. Booster doses are not required for compliance with public health orders.”
The local appeal collection will begin at 8.30am on Friday.
Volunteers are asked to gather at Finley Collection HQ, which is the Con Carr Betta Home Living storage shed (at the rear of the business).
