Crowds turn up for standardbred derby at Tatura Dressage Classic

By Rodney Woods

The invitational standardbred derby drew a crowd to see Chirnside Park's Samantha Bingham and Pearcedale's Stuart Archibald take home the major awards at the recent Tatura Dressage Classic.

Held at Tatura Events Centre from August 9 to 11, about 190 riders competed in more than 40 classes, with Ms Bingham taking out the Big Tour Championship on her horse Richfield.

In the Small Tour Championship, it was Mr Archibald who guided Aurum Walter to victory.

Mr Archibald also competed in the invitational standardbred derby, in which six retired standardbred horses were randomly teamed up with six riders in a head-to-head battle.
