Sassuolo ended a three-match losing run at their home ground by beating Bologna 3-1 in Italian Serie A action on Friday (Saturday AEDT).
Francesco Caputo's brace and a strike from Jeremie Boga set the hosts on their way to a first win at the Mapei Stadium since September.
Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski made a good save to deny Manuel Locatelli after a swift Sassuolo counter, but the visitors failed to clear and seconds later, Filip Djuricic's scuffed overhead kick fell kindly for Caputo to sweep home from close range.
Boga added a second in the 68th minute when he was played in down the left and raced clear to fire past Skorupski.
Bologna responded two minutes later as Riccardo Orsolini celebrated his Italy call-up by scoring his second goal of the campaign.
But Caputo restored the two-goal advantage in style in the 75th minute, dribbling down the Sassuolo left before rifling an effort high past Skorupski from a narrow angle.
