Step Up to the Plate is a five-town roadshow run by North Eastern Baseball Association, with the Bandits on hand at the Benalla leg to assist throughout the session.
The day, held at Benalla Racecourse, will finish with a free barbeque lunch.
Benalla Bandits vice-president Dwayne Yates said the aim of the session was getting junior players introduced to the sport of baseball.
“It’s all about the fundamentals — hitting, catching and running bases,” Yates said.
Yates said all equipment would be supplied and all levels of sporting abilities were welcome.
The session runs from 10 am to 12.30 pm for those aged 7-15.
The Bandits also kicked off their pre-season training last week, ahead of the upcoming North Eastern season.
And there will be a new face in the dugout, with incoming coach Andrew Fox taking on the top job.
Yates said Fox's appointment was exciting for the club as it looks to improve its win-loss record.
“He’s been a coach for a long time,” Yates said.
“We have three team members who were coached as juniors under him.
“He has a lot of coaching experience and will be great in teaching the fundamentals.
“He’s a great asset for us and hopefully things will start to turn around for us.”
Similar to its come and try day, Yates said anyone interested in either playing or helping out at the club this season were welcome to join.
“Even people interested in timekeeping or umpiring — come down. Everyone is welcome,” he said.
