Corowa Rutherglen’s outstanding streak came to an end last Saturday with the Panthers applying great defensive pressure to overcome the Roos girls with a 9-pount win.

With injuries and illness, the Roos girls lacked their usual depth. However, they never gave up the fight, pushing Lavington until the final siren. Next week the Roos face the Pigeons for another solid match in Yarrawonga.
A grade
Roos 44 defeated by Lavi 53
The A grade girls knew they would have to bring their best on Saturday, but Lavington came out fighting from the first centre. The first five minutes saw the Panthers up by 4 goals, the Roos continued to work hard over the game but were unable to claw back the deficit in the score line.
The Lavington defence was extremely strong, and they showed why they are a top of the table team as well!
The girls will regroup and be ready for all that Yarrawonga brings next week.

Club 1- Brooke Bice- an absolute soldier, every game this girl gives her all for the team in both attack and defence.
Club 2- Em Laracy- strong and consistent defensive pressure, Em has been a standout in defence this year.
Essential beauty & MVP - Soph H- always reliable, Sophie’s read of the ball meant plenty of turnovers.
Canteen- Jen Barrett- the general in GK, Jen’s determination and composure was highlighted today on a very strong opposition player.
B grade
Roos 44 defeated by Lavi 56
A top of the table clash the girls knew what was at stake. They pushed a very tall Lavington but unfortunately could not take the lead. A huge thank you once again to all the C graders who stepped up to play in this match.
Awards:
Club 1-Rowena Black - a stand out return to the B grade, Ro was disciplined and worked tirelessly to disrupt Lavington’s attacking structure.
Club 2-Lucy McInnes- a warrior Lucy lead the team with string defensive pressure and plenty of attacking support
Origin- Imogen Taylor - a physical contest from the first whistle jimmy plugged away cut the front of the ring and utilising angled drives.
Canteen-Jade Lane - plenty of drive challenging the attacking space and applying necessary hands over pressure.
MVP- Lisa Tobin - a tall timber, Lisa pulled the ball in with strength often challenged by both defenders.
C Grade
Roos 29 defeated by Lavi 42
The C Graders took on the top team in Panthers. The first half of the game the girls worked well, executed their game play but with ongoing pressure applied by the Panthers the girls missed their opportunities.
Awards:
Club 1- Grace O’Brien - solid in defence took some great intercepts
Club 2- Jemma smith - defensive pressure was great, Jemma has been playing strong reliable netball.
Doc’s award- Kyah Harvey - calmness on the court, she is able to settle the play and feeds the goalers well.
Cantee - Bec Kuschert - strong rebounding and worked well with Grace in the ring.
MVP - Tracey Oates very reliable in goal under strong defensive pressure.
Under 17s
Roos 48 defeated Lavi 24
Great game by the girls this weekend. Positivity was our goal for the game and the girls projected that vibe which was great to see. Our shooters were confident in each other and shot beautifully. Our attackers worked through their plays and were easily coachable! Our defenders worked tirelessly and caused many turnovers resulting in win! Only one game out of finals! Keep going girls!

Club 1 - Eloise Black - Improved out of sight and is ever reliable in her rebounds.
Urban Graze- Felicity Lincoln - played both ends of the court and transitioned beautifully!
SportsPower- Taleaka Dickins - ever reliable. Had a tricky week with her ankle but pulled through beautifully.
Canteen & MVP- Sophie Kennedy - absolutely reliable goals, worked hard with both Steph and Felicity.
