Coming into last week’s game against Nathalia with memories of an after-the-siren loss to Numurkah still imprinted in their minds, the Rams bounced back in fine style, registering a convincing 65-point win on their home deck.
Now sitting comfortably in fourth spot, Rams coach Ash Morris will learn a lot about his team this weekend as it battles against one of the form side’s competition.
“Mulwala are undefeated in 2022 so we are really looking forward to the challenge of coming up against a genuine contender,” Morris said.
“They have dangerous players all over the field so we will have some plans to limit their strengths, but we certainly don't fear them and our players are excited to make the trip over.”
The Rams will make the trip east without the class and experience of Todd Gallagher, who Morris confirmed will be missing for an extended period.
“Todd Gallagher will miss an extended period after breaking his thumb,” he said.
“We have some players putting their hand up for selection including Jake McManus, Hayden Barker and Tom Dowling.”
With a win critical to his side’s premiership credentials, Morris outlined the areas the Rams would need to get right if they were to cause this upset.
“There have been games this year where we haven't got the balance of attack and defence right and still managed to win,” he said.
“This weekend we need to sustain both facets of our game for four quarters and nothing less, in order for us to win.”
