Rochester Golf Club passes on our condolences and dearest sympathy to Kathy and Rick Connors on the death of their son Paul — our thoughts are with you on this sombre occasion.
A countback was called after Robert Vise and Shane Bywaters' score of 36 Stableford points each over 18 holes.
Played off the blue markers, Vise was finally declared the winner after both players had equal scores after nine and six holes on the back nine.
Ian Pollard was next best on 35, this time on a four-way countback from Kevin MacCormack, Peter Anderson and visitor Glenn Kramer.
Following best was Laurie Jackel, Ap Kuiper, Steve Bubb, Bruce Bryant, Dan Dockery and Darren White.
Bryant (3), MacCormack (5), Robert Ralph (on the line on 10) and Tim Quinlan took home the Campaspe News eagles nest for his close shot on 12.
Semi-finals were played in the club's singles match play championship — Darren White defeated Graham Willis 2/1 and Shane Bywaters defeated a gallant Ian Pollard, also 2/1.
Barb McCarty was the overall winner in the Ladies’ Stroke round last Friday with a net of 71, runner-up was Julie Leahy (76) from last week's winner in Cheryl Hicks (77), while Marg Knight had the least putts (26) from Hicks with 29.
Nearest-the-pin winners were Leahy (3), Knight (12), Hicks (16) and Jenny Major straightest on 10.
Last Wednesday, organiser Richard Feuk drew for mystery partners after the Stableford event with the total aggregate scores counting over the back nine.
In-form golfer Robert Vise (20) and Garry Charnas’ (20) total of 40 points won from Peter Anderson and Brendan McCarty (38). Bruce Bryant was the lucky winner for his shot to 12.
Unfortunately, the Lockington and Rochester golf clubs' result in the annual Ces Parsons Shield Trophy on Monday was played too late for publication, however, one of the clubs will have bragging rights until this time next year.

Wintry conditions made for beanies galore and higher scores, with only one golfer having a nett score under 70.
Kevin Humbert (84-12-72) won A-grade in a congested finish, ahead of Mat Dennis (80-7-73) and four golfers who finished on nett 74.
B-grade honours went to Darren Carnie (89-21-68) thanks to a moment or two of good fortune. Mark Lyons (94-22-72) was runner-up, while Tony Brooke (113-39-74) won C-grade.

On Sunday, June 12, fine weather and a good course made for an an excellent day of golf.
Winner was John Canavan while Denise was a close runner-up. Nearest-the-pin on the 5th was Russell Tatt and straightest drive went to Denise.
